Beginners is designed for people with little or no background in Japanese. The focus is on providing a foundation in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Hiragana, katakana and some Kanji will be introduced. Required Materials: Copies of text and workbook are available at the school. 10-weeks course.

Intermediate follows the lessons in the introductory class. Students will learn the how to conjugate adjectives, how to express basic thoughts, feelings and expressions and basic kanji. Japanese festivals, schooling and other cutlural aspects will be covered. Required materials: Copies of the text are avaialble at the school. 10-week course.

Sachiko Clough is originally from Osaka. B.A. German, Kyoto University of Foreign Language Studies. She is a certified Japanese language teacher and also holds licenses in Ikebana and Japanese tea ceremony.
Toshie Tesler, a native of Kobe, Japan, lives with her artist husband in Rockland, Maine. Toshie is a graduate of both Boston University and Bentley College and is a certified public accountant. She is well schooled in Japanese art and culture with certificates in Tea Ceremony and Ikebana. Her two children are also in the area, both currently serving in the United States Coast Guard.
