The Latvian Ladies of Maine will prepare a traditional dinner to celebrate Latvian Independence Day topped off with a traditional Latvian birthday sweetbread.
One of the Baltic states in the Baltic region of Northern Europe, The Republic of Latvia declared its independence on November 18, 1918, in the aftermath of World War I, following centuries of Swedish, Polish and Russian rule.
Come to celebrate and experience the meaning of freedom and independence through this rich cultural experience. In addition to delicious Latvian foods, will provide a presentation on Latvian culture and music, a bit of history, and a few brief refugee stories by Latvian neighbors of the midcoast community.
