Dinner & Discuss: Immigrant Experience – Cultural Contributions & Influence in American Society
March 8th @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Penobscot Bay Language School is excited to welcome back Chef/ Restaurateur Jordan Benissan for a very special West African Cultural Dinner & Discuss event focussed on the Immigrant Experience in America on March 8, 2023 (5:30 PM). This culinary event will include authentic cuisine from the west African nation Togo, other regional, and global influences. Guest Chef Jordan Benissan (of Me Lon Togo Rockland) will be preparing the meal, and lead a discussion on the Immigrant Experience in America drawing from his own experience as a “New Mainer” (many years ago) and how that experience informs his life and identity here in the US today.
Restaurateur–Benissan is also a world renowned music educator. His expertise in polyrhythmic drumming–dating back millenia & originating from the African continent–is woven throughout much of his work at the restaurant, and out in the community. Penobscot Bay Language School has worked with Chef Benissan on numerous community projects over the years, and we are delighted to have him back to our Gay Street schoolhouse!
