From the Middle of the World to Maine
July 26, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
$35
An Ecuadorean dinner and a talk, ” From the Middle of the World to Maine,” will be given by Pablo Espinosa. The public is most welcome to this cultural and social evening in English.
A table will be designated for those who wish to converse in Spanish over dinner.
Pablo Espinosa, was born in Cuenca near the equator in Ecuador and is now a resident of Camden. He will talk of the locations and features of his country, small but nevertheless having extraordinary climate and geographic conditions matching other locations around the world most attractive to tourists and adventurers. His own journey began as a graphic designer in Chile in the southern hemisphere, then to jewelry design in the culture of New York City. His decision to reinvent himself and to live in Maine with his family has given him an extensive perspective as one immigrant’s experience.
The dinner menu, offering a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian, will consist of traditional Ecuadorean specialties: “empanadas” filled with cheese or vegetables; “locro de papa”, a potato soup with cheese and avocado; a “ceviche” of fish or mushroom “cooked” in lime juice: an “ensalada” of red cabbage and carrots with a creamy lime dressing; and dessert of “pastel de Tres Leches,” with fruit.
Reservations may be made by Wednesday July 24 for the Friday evening dinner at $35 per person by calling 207-230-0055 between 8 am and 9 pm or on-line.
