Why Culture Camp?
At Penobscot Language School we believe that young people are the key to global understanding. Children will experience greater confidence in—and connection with—the world when exposed to languages and cultures other than their own.
A combination of activities designed to enhance and promote cultural awareness provides a setting for fostering cultural connections.
A Day at Culture Camp
A typical day at Culture Camp will be atypical!
Children will “visit” a different culture each day through interactive games, activities, film, and art held in our facility, in our spacious backyard and at walkable, community locations.
Activities may include Japanese calligraphy, Mexican kite-making, and Russian egg painting. Children will create art and play games in the style of the culture of the day.
Lunch itself becomes a learning opportunity as children gather in our kid-friendly, state-of-the-art kitchen to make an ethnic, nutritious lunch. Speakers, demonstrations, mini field trips, sports, music and other events round out the days.
