Many Maine communities were settled by Germans beginning in the 1740s. As such, German cultural permeates our local and state cultures, with town names like Dresden in Western Maine, and Midcoast communities like Bremen, Hanover and of course Waldoboro–home to the Old German Meeting House, an historic German Lutheran church and cemetery–it is clear that German immigrants had a lot to do with making Midcoast Maine what it is today! Join PBLS staff, volunteers and community members for this wonderful celebration of local cultural heritage.
