Penobscot School recognizes that language learning extends beyond the bounds of the language itself. The school therefore offers an extensive array of cultural events throughout the year intended to broaden perspectives by bringing global-minded people together. Check our events page often for updates to our changing list of stimulating activities including ethnic meals, lectures, films, speakers, and demonstrations. Registration for many events may be done online. We look forward to seeing you!

Join PLS program staff and volunteers for a special Leap-Year edition of this FREE library-inspired Children’s program! Young language learners (and parents) of all ages are welcome to join us each Saturday morning in February for an hour of traditional Spanish (language) folks songs and children’s stories! Children (and their parents) will learn through singing, dancing, tasting and simply enjoying the culture of the Spanish speaking world. This is free to all local families--no sign up necessary!

Traditional Italian Cooking Class

Join PLS Italian Instructor Evelina Santaguida for this 6 week series on Cucina Italiana. Each Wednesday, at noon, (Feb 5 – March 11), we will be showcasing a different traditional dish, demonstrate and practice how to prepare the meal, talk about its history, cultural relevance and global impact.
