Penobscot Bay Language School is excited to announce three scheduled trips to Patagonia–home to glaciers, penguins, some of the most famous peaks of the Andes Mountains, and so much more!
This bi-national (Argentina/Chile) group excursion–open to all–is led by Rockland resident, Nelson Sanchez Oyarzo, with program support from Penobscot Bay Language School. The trips are scheduled for December 2-12, 2025; January 6-16, February 3-13, March 3-13, and October 6-16, 2026.
The 10 day trip takes travelers to numerous destinations of interest throughout one of South America’s most famous natural wonders–Patagonia! Travelers will visit massive glaciers, see the tallest peaks of the Andes, Magellanic penguins, and numerous national parks. The $6900 price* includes all hotel stays, evening meals, transportation, national parks and museum entrance tickets, and local driver/guide costs (at less than half the cost of comparable guided tours of Patagonia!).
The trips start and end in Punta Arenas (Chile), and include a boat trip to Magdalena Island, a guided tour of PBLS trip leader Nelson Sanchez Oyarzo’s hometown of Punta Arenas, visits to Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine (National Park), Laguna Amarga, El Calafate, Glacier Perito Moreno (Argentina), El Chalten, El Calafate, as well as treks to Mirador del Torre, Mirador de los Cóndores and Mirador de las Águilas. The trips wrap up with visits to Reserva Magallanes (National Park), and the Instituto de la Patagonia Museum.

Nelson Sanchez Oyarzo
Growing up in Punta Arenas, Chile, in the foothills of the southernmost peaks of the Andes, not far from the Straights of Magellan, and in sight of giant prehistoric glaciers, experienced tour guide, Nelson Sanchez Oyarzo, developed a passion for his home and the surrounding natural wonders of the area. He has led numerous group treks and tours throughout Patagonia, on both Argentine and Chilean sides of the border.
