Portuguese for Travelers: A Course for Beginners

New Class!

Portuguese for Travelers is an introductory course to basic, European Portuguese. This class assumes no previous knowledge of Portuguese and is designed to be accessible, fun and easy-going. Conversational and listening skills and useful, travel vocabulary are the focus. Grammar and pronunciation will be introduced through lecture, use of audio visuals and role playing.  This course is ideal for people who intend to travel and includes one cooking class during which students will prepare and enjoy a traditional Portuguese meal.

9 weeks • Mondays, 5:00-6:00 p.m. starting January 22, 2018 • Materials provided by the instructor

(Another nine-week session will immediately follow for those wanting to continue their studies.)

João Bentes

João Bentes is from Setúbal, Portugal. He studied architecture in Lisbon and later earned his masters degree. João has since worked and lived in Italy, The Netherlands and Germany. He served as a bike messenger, radio broadcaster, and editor and reporter. He speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian and a bit of French and is pursuing his love of boats while residing in Maine.
